  38. Absolutely not. Islam is strictly against slavery. But when Muhammad PBUH was dealing with Semetic society he was in, he saw the prolific use of slaves there. Therefore, he had to deal with this and gradually decrease slavery by telling the people that freeing slaves was an act of "sunnah" or an Islamic moral act. He only purchased slaves to free them himself. He did this to thousands of slaves and eventually people followed suit.

    or free some those slaves that became muslims after he himself have enslaved them?

    I believe that for muhamad freeing sklaves where "convenient" not "righteous"

He used to buy and sell them, but he purchased more than he sold, especially after God empowered him by His message, as well as after his immigration from Mecca. He once sold one black slave for two. His name was Jacob al-Mudbir. His purchases of slaves were more. He was used to renting out and hiring many slaves, but he hired more slaves than he rented out".
